At Community Laptops, we re-distribute electronic equipment from organisations and individuals, to schools, people and families that need devices the most.
We set up in 2020 to support families excluded and isolated due to digital poverty. The COVID 19 pandemic has highlighted the stark reality of digital poverty in the UK. It is now a legal requirement for families to "have access to remote education" but alarmingly high numbers of families live without laptops and wifi. Children have no access to online learning and parents have no way to access the help they need. Aside from that, many adults are entirely isolated, with no access to resources and support from online services due to no access to a device or the internet.
In the spirit of mutual aid, we have been able to empower hundreds of children, families and individuals with digital devices.
If you are an organisation looking to do more with your end-of-life machines or an individual looking to find your unused device a new home, we'd love to hear from you.
Please read more on our About page, which includes our criteria for donations.
Note: we do not refurbish devices so only accept devices in good working condition
Please visit if you have a device that needs refurbishing
"Those with access to these resources, you have been given a privilege. You get to feed at this banquet of knowledge whilst the rest of the world is locked out. But you need not - indeed you cannot - keep this privilege for yourselves"
